Welcome to the ChildLight
Association of Schools!
Who We Are
ChildLight Association of Schools (CLAS) is an independent organization of schools that support one another in a collaborative community to promote the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason and its practice in a variety of school settings.
The term "ChildLight" was first coined in 1984 by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay in her seminal work, For the Children's Sake. This book reintroduced the work of Charlotte Mason, a pioneer in educational philosophy. From both Mason's original works and the authors who have written about her philosophy in the years since, schools in the CLAS network focus on educating the whole child in an atmosphere that values lifelong learning, habit training, and living ideas.
What Does CLAS Offer Member Schools?
In addition to an annual conference for educators and a leadership retreat for school administrators, CLAS offers a multitude of training materials geared toward the classroom implementation of Charlotte Mason philosophy. Additionally, we offer resources and mentoring for school administrators as well as a community of Mason educators who provide support and assistance to one another.
